Overview for those wishing to view profiles

DD Residential Opening Lists Hits the World Wide Web

The Metro Crisis Coordination Program (MCCP) and the Association for Residential Resources in MN (ARRM) are pleased to announce the introduction of a dynamic, dual-purpose database on the World Wide Web. MCCP and ARRM have collaborated to bring you www.mn-ddsupportservices.com. At this web site residential providers can list and describe openings they have at their facilities. Consumers and their representatives can go to this site to search for placements that offer supports for which they are looking.

To search this website for residential services click the view button. There are two ways to search for a facility. The first way is to use the “search feature” which enables you to list characteristics that you consider important. (e.g.: county, type of facility, age cohort served, etc…) The second option allows you to search the database directly. A screen will present the profiles in what is referred to as ‘a view’. A view is simply one way to present the information that is contained in the database. Since this is a true database, there are numerous ways to look at the information. A number of different ‘views’ have been developed to help you search for the facility characteristics you desire most. The system is set up to allow you to continuously refine your search criteria, by presenting second, third, fourth and sometimes even fifth level sorts.

The database application defaults to a primary ‘View by County’. Other primary ‘views’ allow you to search by different characteristics (e.g.: sites that are handicapped accessible, sites that can provide special medical attention, etc…). Let’s say you want to look for a residential placement for someone in Hennepin County. You scroll down the listings to Hennepin and then click a ‘twisty’ (triangle) which then presents the information by a ‘secondary view’ that allows you to narrow your search even further. In this case, you can choose to look at sites for males, or sites for females. You click the ‘twisty’ for males, and then the computer allows you to narrow your search by asking if you want to view profiles for males under the age of 18 or over the age of 18. You may make your selection by picking >18 and then finalize your search by selecting SLSs or ICFs. You can print out the basic information that is contained in that ‘view’, or double click on the option that looks best to look at the entire profile. The entire profile contains much more information than can be categorized in different ‘views’. For instance, when you view the entire profile you can read about the staffing patterns at the facility, or you can read about whether the other people who live at the site are vulnerable, aggressive etc…

In the example above the presentations would look something like this:
Ú Hennepin
Ú Males
Ø <18
Ú >18
Ú SLS
· Company: ABC, Inc. Facility Name: SLS1 Contact John Doe Phone: 555-1111
· Company: DEF, Inc. Facility Name: SLS2 Contact Jane Doe Phone: 555-2222
· Company: GHI, Inc. Facility Name: SLS3 Contact Joe Doe Phone: 555-3333
Ø ICF
Ø Female

Note: In this example, if there were no SLSs that had openings in Hennepin, for males, over the age of 18, the SLS icon would not be presented. It would only have presented the ICF option. Similarly, if there were SLSs for males, but only sites for adults, the <18 icon would not be presented. Only search characteristics that lead to a profile are presented. That’s why there are different primary views. If you’ve got a deal-breaker of an issue, let’s say the person you are working with does not have a waiver, you don’t have to go through all of these steps to find out that there are no ICFs in Hennepin County for Males. You go to the primary view for ‘type of facility’ and you automatically eliminate all of the SLS options that do you no good.

Creating & Modifying a Housing Profile:

Thank you for posting an opening on the online residential openings list. This site is used by Case Managers and others across the State to locate desirable residential services for people with developmental disabilities. This system enables you to create and modify “Housing Profiles” for each site your company operates. You can enter as many profiles as you like free of charge. Pease Note: A Housing Profile is posted for “view” by others for a period of 30 days. This means your profile will be pulled from view after 30 days. You can prevent your profile from being pulled from view (or re-post, if it was already pulled) by following the directions below.

In order to create or modify a Housing Profile under your company’s name you will need to enter a password that is unique to your organization.
